  2. Why Parents Should Take Time Out Instead of the Kids

by PACE in Category: Child Behavior/Development,Everyday,For The Adults,Just For Fun,PACE

Time outs are a common and accepted form of punishment today for parents and caregivers alike. As far as forms of punishment go, there are many compelling reasons to give your child a time out instead of resulting to other physical forms of punishment. Taking a time out can help your child calm down and be able to make better choices; however, the “time-out” is often overused and misused by parents.

  3. Dance to Relieve Stress

by PACE in Category: At Your Center/School,Child Behavior/Development,Everyday,Just For Fun,PACE

“Relaxation movements are not the only way to unwind the body.  Dancing does wonders.”  This is the observation of Alice Honig in her book, Little Kids, Big Worries.

“Choose slow skating waltzes and other dancing music for toddlers to relax, twirling dreamily to slow tunes.  Some preschoolers love lively and stomping music.  They jump and leap as they dance to those strong beats.  Watch the children dance.  Tensions flow out of their bodies as they move to the music.”

How about Being a Tourist in Your Hometown

It’s easy to overlook the opportunities right where you live. Sightseeing is often a must when you’re traveling, but checking out the history of the place you live or grew up can also be an educational and eye-opening experience. Pretend you are a tourist arriving in your town for the first time, contact your local chamber of commerce or National Historic Society, and see all that your area has to offer. Tour the most historic buildings, discover if any battles were fought where you’re standing, check out monuments and statues, or visit a cemetery to search for the oldest tombstones. Every place has its own legends and history. Discovering what makes your town special can create a meaningful connection to the spot your family calls home.

by PACE in Category: Child Behavior/Development,Everyday,For The Adults,Just For Fun,PACE,Uncategorized

A Spring time bicycle ride is a great activity to get out of the house, get exercise and have an adventure with your family.  To ensure a safe and fun adventure with your kids, here are some bicycle safety information and tips:

    • California law requires that all children under the age of 18 wear a bicycle helmet when cycling.
    • Wear bright clothing and avoid riding at dusk or at night.
    • Make sure your child knows the rules of the road before they venture out to more populated roadways. Teach them to “stop, look and listen.”
    • Don’t carry your baby on a bicycle.

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

  10. Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!

by PACE in Category: At Your Center/School,Child Behavior/Development,Everyday,Just For Fun,PACE

Try as he might, Mr. McGreely cannot outwit three clever and hungry rabbits as they feast on his vegetable garden — muncha, muncha, muncha! But there’s always something to be grateful for as both the gardener and the rabbits learn in this funny, alliterative tale.

    Tippy, tippy, tippy, Pat!

That’s the sound three hungry bunnies make when the sun goes down and the moon comes up and Mr. McGreely’s garden smells yum, yum, yummy. While he’s dreaming of his mouth-watering carrots, the bunnies are diving over fences and swimming trenches to get the veggies first!

    Hammer, hammer, hammer, Saw!

That’s the sound Mr. McGreely makes when the sun comes up and the moon goes down and he sees what those twitch-whiskers have done….Nibbled leaves! Empty stalks! Mr. McGreely will build something bigger and better, sure to keep even pesky puff-tails away.
